Ben Cline votes against your right to contraception and increases your risk of health problems

Ben Cline voted NO to the Right to Contraception Act . This bill protects an individual's ability to access contraceptives, engage in contraception, and protects a health care provider's ability to provide contraceptives, contraception, and information related to contraception. By voting no he denies contraceptives of all types including condoms which are used to prevent pregnancy as well as preventing sexually transmitted infections (STI).   Ben Cline doesn't care if you get an STI ? I hope not. Hormonal contraceptives (oral contraceptives, hormonal patches, intravaginal rings, and IUDs) are used medically for other conditions including dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), dysmenorrhea (painful periods), oligomenorrhea (infrequent periods), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), uterine fibroids, endometriosis, acne and others.  Hormonal imbalances can even contribute to worsening of migraine headaches. The last time I looked, Ben Cline does not have an NP or MD or PA behind h

Ben Cline voted NO to the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act

Ben Cline voted NO to the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act    The Bill summary says: This bill prohibits any person from selling, during a proclaimed energy emergency, a consumer fuel at a price that (1) is unconscionably excessive, and (2) indicates that the seller is exploiting the emergency to increase prices unreasonably. The President may issue a proclamation of such an emergency that specifies the consumer fuel and geographic area covered and how long the proclamation applies. The bill provides for enforcement of these provisions by the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general. Civil penalties collected by the commission through such enforcement must be used to provide assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Additionally, the commission must investigate whether the price of gasoline is being manipulated through reducing refinery capacity or other manipulative practices. The commission also must establish a Transportation Fuel Monitori

Ben Cline voted against protecting animals from abuse

Ben Cline was the only Virginia congressional representatives to vote against the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act, H.R. 693 .    From the bill summary "This bill addresses the practice of soring horses. The soring of horses includes various actions taken on horses' limbs to produce higher gaits that may cause pain, distress, inflammation, or lameness." Per the first article listed below, "Soring, the intentional infliction of pain to horses' front limbs by applying caustic chemicals such as mustard oil or kerosene or inserting sharp objects into the horses' hooves to create an exaggerated gait known as the "Big Lick,” has plagued the equine world for six decades." Warning - the first article is excellent but has some photos that may be upsetting. VA Congressional Delegation Supports Anti Horse Cruelty Bill, Rep. Ben Cline votes NO to lowering the cost of insulin and all medications

Ben Cline votes NO to lowering the cost of insulin and all medications In my 25 years as a Nurse Practitioner in Virginia, I have treated many patients with diabetes who require insulin to live.  Uncontrolled diabetes has a staggering cost to the individual and their family as well as to the health care system and nation in general.  It can result in increased risk of complications such as blindness, vascular disease and amputations, heart attacks, and death.  Financial costs can include the cost of personal bankruptcy, unnecessary hospitalizations, loss of work, increased insurance premiums, etc.   This is why I cannot fathom why the Virginia 6th Congressional District Republican Representative Ben Cline voted NO on March 31 2022 on The Affordable Insulin Now Act and voted NO to the Lower Drug Costs Now Act of 2019. He also voted NO again to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 which allows Medicare to negotiate lower drug costs, caps the price of insulin at $35 per month and caps

Ben Cline votes NO against the Respect for Marriage Act

Ben Cline votes NO against the Respect for Marriage Act  The Respect for Marriage Act - This bill provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages.   Did you know that the Virginia Constitution defines marriage as between a man and a woman only ?   If the Supreme Court rules against same sex marriage then then all same sex unions are illegal even if you were married tin another state. This is a direct attack on your right to love and have a relationship with the person who is right for you.. The full text of the bill can be examined at: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/8404

Ben Cline votes NO against supporting women and their health care

Ben Cline votes NO against supporting women and their health care Ben Cline vote NO against the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act of 2022 prohibits anyone acting under state law from interfering with a person's ability to access out-of-state abortion services. This bill protects women, families, the health care professionals that care for women, and other innocent people that may help women (such as a taxi driver who transported the women to her healthcare appointment). The full text of the bill can be examined at: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/8297 Ben Cline wants a national ban against abortion - watch out because they are coming for your privacy and your life.

Ben Cline votes against helping babies with birth defects and sides with insurance companies

Ben Cline votes against helping babies with birth defects and sides with insurance companies On April 4 2022 Virginia 6th Congressional District Republican Representative Ben Cline voted NO against passing the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act.  This bill requires private health insurance plans to cover diagnosis and treatment of congenital anomalies and birth defects, such as reconstructive services and items.  This would include congenital defects such as cleft lip and cleft palate.   The CDC says that “children with a cleft lip with or without a cleft palate or a cleft palate alone often have problems with feeding and speaking clearly and can have ear infections. They also might have hearing problems and problems with their teeth.” You can read more about these birth defects at https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/birthdefects/cleftlip.html You can read the actual bill at https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/1916/text Early corrective action for these problems can help affected

Ben Cline votes to support domestic terrorists

Ben Cline votes to support domestic terrorists In light of the most recent mass shooting events in Buffalo and Uvalde and the 230 other mass shooting events (defined by 4 or more people shot or killed not including the assailant) in the first 6 months of 2022, one would think that there would be overwhelming support for prevention of domestic terrorism.   Unfortunately, our Virginia 6th Congressional District Representative Ben Cline does not agree and he voted against the congressional bill as detailed below.  This bill allows law enforcement organizations to create and share information and allow agencies to cooperate with the goal of preventing mass events like shootings and even the Oklahoma City bombing by the domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.   This bill has Nothing to do with the Second Amendment .  Please see the link to the bill below for further information HR. 350 Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022 Bill Summary: This bill establishes new requirements to expand the

Ben Cline votes NO to supporting Health Department infrastructure

Ben Cline votes NO to supporting Health Department infrastructure In my 25 years as a Nurse Practitioner in Virginia I have relied heavily on the Virginia Department of Health (including local offices) and the CDC to help me protect my patients from deadly diseases such as measles, tuberculosis, meningitis, pneumonia, influenza and others including Covid-19.  Primary strategies for that protection include patient education and vaccinations.   On November 30 2021 Virginia 6th Congressional District Republican Representative Ben Cline voted NO against passing the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2021.   This bill expands CDC and public health department capabilities in the form of improving immunization information systems technology that help health care providers like me to protect children and families from some of these diseases through certain mandatory vaccines (Virginia mandates certain vaccines for children to enter school) and to provide education and assist th

Ben Cline – prolific author ?

Ben Cline – prolific author ? Ben Cline has authored only 13 bills in Congress in the last 4 years.  His lack of work ethic is shocking compared to the average of 63 sponsored legislative bills in 4 years by each of the other Virginia Congressional representatives.  What has he been doing all this time ?  Obviously not much. He has also voted NO on numerous bills that would have been very helpful to his constituents including lowering the cost of medications and insulin, preventing fuel price gouging, and many others. Remember this when you vote in November 2022.
